În 25th July 2005 the Bulgarian CFA Society” (former Bulgarian Association of Financial Analysts) held its 2005 ANNUAL EVENT UNDER THE 2005 CFA INSTITUTE SPEAKER RETAINER PROGRAM. Special guest-speakers of the BCFAA’s 2005 Annual Event were Mr. Christian Dreyer, CFA® and Mr. Nikola Abadjiev, Ph.D.

The current president of the Swiss Society of Investment Professionals (SSIP) Mr. Christian Dreyer, CFA® talked about “The Coming-of-Age of Pan European Pension Funds” which aims to demonstrate that cross border (pan European) pension services is moving from a narrow niche market to a mass market driven by cost and management considerations of multinational corporations. The key trigger of that development lies in recent EU regulation and judicial activity to remove unfavorable tax treatment of cross border transactions on an EU level. Dreyer looks into practical advantages and implementation difficulties of setting up a pan European structure from the vantage point of an enterprise located outside of the European Union. Mr. Dreyer, CFA®, is proprietor of Tertium datur AG, a Swiss consulting firm specializing in pan European pension fund structures. Previously, he was Chief Financial Officer at Open Systems AG in Zurich, an IT security outsourcer.

The other special guest-speaker of the event was Mr. Nikola Abadjiev, Ph.D., Chairman of the Bulgarian Association of Supplementary Pension Security Companies.
